iSampo – AI powered new vitality for the region

iSampo is a regional development project led by LUT University, the aim of which is to strengthen South Karelia's innovation activities and entrepreneurial vitality with the help of artificial intelligence. The project transforms academic research into practical business ideas for SMEs by using artificial intelligence tools to analyze and refine research results.

One of the university's tasks is to bring new solutions to industry and business. The information produced by the research is usually in a form that is difficult for SME companies to adopt and its utilization is limited in these companies in the region. The basis for the project is to refine the research knowledge generated at the university with the help of artificial intelligence to be more ‘popular’, while at the same time highlighting potential, hidden connections to industry and business. The purpose is to refine the information produced by research results, publications and dissertations into a more suitable format for business, taking advantage of the opportunities presented by new digital technologies.

Goals

Processes academic research data using artificial intelligence so that it is more accessible and usable for SMEs.
Produces new business ideas from the University's research results (e.g. dissertations, publications).
Strengthen cooperation between LUT University, regional development actors and SMEs.
To develop an operating framework to transfer research-based innovations into business.
