When applying to our international Master's Programmes, you must prove your proficiency in English with one of the following methods:

  • an accepted language test result
  • a degree in higher education completed in English in an EU/EEA country or in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, Switzerland, United Kingdom or the United States of America
  • a degree in higher education completed in Finnish or in Swedish in Finland
     

Language test result

You can prove your proficiency in English with one of the following language test results with at least the minimum score mentioned:

Degree completed in English in certain countries

You can prove your proficiency in English with a degree of higher education i.e. at least a Bachelor's degree in English completed in

  • an EU/EEA country
  • Australia
  • Canada
  • Ireland
  • New Zealand
  • Switzerland
  • United Kingdom
  • United States of America

Degrees completed in English on offshore campuses are accepted if the main university located in one of the countries listed.

The fact that the language of instruction was English must be clearly indicated on the educational documents.

If applying with an unfinished Bachelor's Degree, you can prove your proficiency in English with that same unfinished degree

In case of proving your proficiency in English with another degree apart from the one you are applying with, you must have completed that degree and graduated by the application deadline.

 

Degree completed in Finnish or Swedish in Finland

You can prove your proficiency in English with a degree of higher education i.e. at least a Bachelor's degree completed

  • in Finnish or Swedish
  • in a Finnish University or a University of Applied Sciences

If applying with an unfinished Bachelor's Degree, you are able to prove your proficiency in English with that same unfinished degree.

In case of proving your proficiency in English with another degree apart from the one your are applying with, you must have completed that degree and graduated by the application deadline.

 

How to send your language test result?

Your test result will always be electronically verified from the test organisation's database.

IELTS Academic
IELTS Online

Minimum overall score: 6.5

  • Upload a PDF copy for your IELTS Test Report Form or IELTS Indicator Score ID to your application form.
    • When having access to your Test Report Form (TRF) Number or IELTS Indicator Score ID, we will be able to verify your electronic test result.

TOEFL iBT Test, TOEFL iBT Home Edition, TOEFL iBT Paper Edition

Minimum overall score: 90

MyBest Scores accepted

  • Upload a PDF copy of your Score Report to your application form.
  • We are able to see your electronic TOEFL Score Report even if you have not requested  ETS Test Centre to add LUT University as a receiver of your test result.
    • If you wish to add LUT University as a recipient for your electronic TOEFL Score Report at the time of booking or taking the test, you can request the ETS Test Centre to add LUT University as a recipient by indicating our official name Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology LUT and our Institution Code 0496.

Overall score for the test taker's highest section of individual scores from all valid test dates in the last 2 years. Available for score reports starting from 1 August 2019. All the individual results must be valid ones.

Minimum overall score: 62

  • Send your electronic Score Report to LUT University from your PTE Online Account
    • Indicate our official name Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology LUT. 
  • Upload the PDF copy of your Score Report to your Online Application Form
    • The minimum that we need for the verification is your Score Report Code or, your Registration ID

C1 Advanced by Cambridge Assessment English
C2 Proficiency by Cambridge Assessment English

Minimum score: C

  • Register at the CAE Candidate Website
  • Provide LUT Admissions Services with your date of birth and your candidate ID Number
    • Indicate our official name Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology LUT.
    • If already having received the official C1/C2 Certificate, remember to upload a copy for it to your Online Application Form

       

Deadline for the language test results

The final date to upload your official test result on your application form and for us to be able to electronically verify it from the test database is

  • Regular Admission: 1 February 2023 at 15:00 (UTC+2)
  • Rolling Admission: 14 days from the supplementary request

Any late results or results that cannot be verified by the given deadline will not be accepted.

 

Validity for the language test results

The language test results are valid for two years from the date of taking the test and your test result must be a valid one on the first day of the related application period.

  • Regular Admission: Test dates prior to 1 December 2020 will not be accepted.
  • Rolling Admission: Test dates prior to 1 November 2020 will not be accepted.
