Nominated Students from Partner Universities

Only nominated students from the LUT Partner Universities in LUT Partner Universities in Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, Rwanda (AIMS Network), Switzerland and The Netherlands may apply to Master's Programmes at LUT University for their Double Degree (DD) studies.

Eligibility

To be able to apply to Double Degree studies at LUT University, there must be a valid DD cooperation agreement between your home university and LUT University.

Master's Programmes in Technology

When applying to Double Degree studies, the eligibility requirements for your educational background are the same as when applying to the Master's Programmes at LUT University in general - except for the minimum score for the language test results for certain programmes.

Master's Programmes in Business Administration

The eligibility requirements for applying as a Double Degree student to the Master's Programmes in Business Administration are defined in the DD Agreements between LUT University and the Partner University.

Proficiency in English

You must prove your proficiency in English with one of the accepted language tests and results listed below.

There is no language test result in English required in case of one of the following:

  • The Bachelor's Degree being completed in English in an EU/EEA country, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Switzerland, United Kingdom or the United States of America
  • The current Master's Programme in the partner university being fully taught in English

Tuition Fees

Students with a citizenship of a non-EU/EEA country (excluding Switzerland) are required to pay tuition fees for their study period at LUT University while the tuition fee for all the Master's programmes being EUR 10 000 per academic year.

Students possibly already having a certain kind of residence permit granted by The Finnish Immigration Service already before applying to LUT are exempted from paying a tuition fee.

Partner University Scholarship Programme at LUT University

If you are required to pay a tuition fee by your nationality, you can apply for a scholarship - and the scholarships are awarded in the order of the highest points scored in the evaluation process.

In the 2021 intake the Master's Programmes are offering three kind of different scholarships:

  • 100% Tuition Fee Waiver
  • 50% Tuition Fee Waiver
     
  • Full Scholarship - 100% Tuition Fee Waiver + EUR 560/month for 10 months during the academic year for living expenses
    All the Master's Programmes are NOT offering Full Scholarships.
    An extremely limited number of Full Scholarships offered on the whole LUT level.

You can apply for a scholarship on the same application form when applying to Double Degree studies.

Preliminary statements about anybody's possibility for getting a scholarship cannot be given as it all depends on the other applicants as well.

NOTE: If choosing to let go of your study place in your home university before graduating from LUT University, you will lose your LUT Scholarship.

Application Process

When applying to Double Degree studies at LUT University, the applicants first must be nominated as Double Degree applicants by their home universities. For further information about the application process, please get in touch with the contact person for DD studies in your home university as s/he has been e-mailed a presentation about the application process.

The Partner University first provides LUT University / Admissions Services with a list of the nominated DD applicants. After that, a link to a personal application form together with a detailed information for applying is e-mailed to the applicant by LUT University / Admissions Services. For each programme, there is an individual application form. 

Applicants can be nominated and they can apply to a maximum of 2 programmes in Technology according to the existing Double Degree agreements. Regarding to programmes in Business Administration, applicants can be nominated and they can apply to only one programme for which there is a valid Double Degree agreement.

After filling in your application form, please send all the listed documents to LUT Admissions Services by e-mail at admission@lut.fi by the application DL:

Application Form

  • If applying to 2 programmes, both application forms must be e-mailed

Educational Documents

  • A scan for your original B.Sc. Degree Certificate
  • A scan for your original B.Sc. Transcript of Records
  • A scan for your up-to-date original M.Sc. Transcript of Records
  • Translations in English for all these documents (if applicable)

Other Documents

  • A scan for your Language Test Result (if applicable)
  • A scan for the ID page for your passport or, a copy of your official ID card
  • A scan for your Residence Permit Card to prove your status for residency (if applicable)
    This only applies to applicant possibly already having a Finnish RP Card.

Do not e-mail any other additional documents.

No official certification for your educational documents is required, as you will e-mail LUT Admissions Services the scans for your original documents.

If you need to have your documents translated in English, you can get them officially translated by a translator or the university.

You may also translate your documents by yourself, but your translations must be approved by the current home university or the awarding university - meaning, that there must be the original stamp of the university on each page of every translation.

Language Test Results

IELTS, TOEFL and Cambridge C1 or C2

When proving your proficiency in English with either IELTS, TOEFL or Cambridge Certificates CAE or CPE, please send a copy of your test score slip to LUT University / Admissions Services either included in your application or separately in a way that it will reach LUT University / Admissions Services by February 26, 2021 at 15:00 (UTC+2). You may e-mail the result to admission@lut.fi as well.

When applying to studies starting at LUT in January 2021, the deadline for the language test to reach LUT University / Admissions Services is October 15, 2020 at 15:00 (UTC+3).

Remember to request your electronic test result to be made available to Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology LUT by using our code and/or name:

  • Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology LUT
  • For TOEFL, the institution code is 0496

The electronic result is required for verifying your test result. 

PTE Academic

Once you receive your test score, send it to LUT University from your PTE account. Choose Finland as the 'Country', 'Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology LUT' as the 'Institution' and click 'Search'. Then select Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology LUT as the university you want to send your results to and confirm your order. LUT will then have test result within 48 hours.

Interviews / Programmes in Technology

All the eligible applicants applying for programmes in Technology will be interviewed through a video interview system or Skype as a part of the evaluation/selection process. The invitations for the interviews will be sent by the LUT University representatives for the programmes. To be admitted, an eligible Double Degree applicant has to achieve at least 70% of the maximum points for the interview.

Student Selections

Regarding to the programmes in Technology, the selection process will be based on the previous degree, proficiency in English and the interview or, only on the interview in some programme/s.

In the programmes in Business Administration, the selection process is based on the requirements for the programme described in the Double Degree agreement.

The final student selections will be carried out in the respective Schools at LUT University and the admissions results will be published on April 15, 2021. 

The student selections for the SKEMA Business School students, which will be published on May 7, 2021.

All the applicants will first receive an e-mail about the results, and later on, within a week, the admitted students will receive an official Certificate of Acceptance and Scholarship Decision (when applicable) by e-mail.
