Eligibility


1. Requirements for Completed Degree

A. Technology

Degrees Completed Worldwide (excluding Finland)

You are eligible to apply to technology programmes with one of the following degrees:

  • Bachelor of Science in Technology OR closely related to Technology
    Completed in a University - All countries

     
  • Other degree mentioned in a programme-specific eligibility requirements completed worldwide (excluding Finland)

       Regarding to the degrees mentioned above:

To possibly get admitted,

  • you must fulfill the programme-specific requirements.
  • gain a minimum of 50% of the given points in the interview (regarding all the programmes excluding Electrical Engineering).

Minimum requirements for the completed studies

The courses must be completed and listed on the Online Application Form in ECTS credits when submitting the application and included on the Transcript/s of Records uploaded to the application form.

You are responsible for converting and presenting the required and completed studies in ECTS credits on your Online Application Form listed by disciplines/fields of study and courses according to the following:

  • 1 ECTS credit = a workload of 27 hours (lectures, assignments etc.)

The degree must be equivalent to a similar Finnish Bachelor's Degree regarding to number of academic years and ECTS credits required.

The degree must give you eligibility to apply to university level Master's studies in the country where the degree was completed in.

Having completed a Master's Degree still makes you eligible to apply, but only when applying with a Bachelor's Degree.

◦ Exception: Master's Degree with no immediate prior Bachelor's Degree included is accepted.

NOTE: The Admission Committee for the programme reserves a right to decide whether the degree and the completed studies provide the applicant with eligibility to apply to the programme.

B. Business Administration

Degrees Completed Worldwide (excluding Finland)

You are eligible to apply to business programmes with one of the following degrees:

To possibly get admitted,

The degree must be equivalent to a similar Finnish Bachelor's Degree regarding to number of academic years and ECTS credits required.

The degree must give you eligibility to apply to university level Master's studies in the country where the degree was completed in.

 

2. GPA

To be eligible to apply to any of the Master's Programmes, you are required to have at least the minimum required score for the GPA for the degree providing you with eligibility to apply:

  • 3.50 on the scale of 1.00 - 5.00 in the following programmes:
  • All the programmes in Business Administration
  • Global Management of Innovation and Technology
  • Innovation and Logistics
  • Technical Physics
  • Data-Centric Engineering
  • Business Analytics, engineering science
  • Electrical Engineering
  • 3.00 on the scale of 1.00-5.00 in the following programmes:
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Software Engineering and Digital Transformation
  • Software Product Management and Business
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Industrial Design Engineering
  • Bioenergy Systems
  • Energy Conversion
  • Nuclear Engineering
  • Sustainability Science and Solutions

You are required to indicate your GPA on your application form with two decimals or, calculate it if not indicated in the Degree Certificate or Transcript of Records.

The GPA used in the LUT selection process is an arithmetic average of all individual study attainments included in the degree and graded with numbers, including the Final Thesis and excluding the grades for any fails. If your previous degree was not evaluated on a 5-point scale, your GPA will be converted to a 5-point grading scale by the Admission Committee for the programme.

 

3. GMAT Exam or GRE General Test (when applying to Business studies)

You are required to have taken a GMAT Exam or GRE General Test with a minimum required score/s listed below.

  • GMAT: Total score 550 OR
  • GRE General: Verbal Reasoning 152 / Quantative Reasoning 152 / Analytical Writing 3.0

4. Requirements for Proficiency in English

Language Test

To be eligible to apply, you are required to submit a language test result as a proof of your proficiency in English.Further information: Required Documents > Language Test Results.
