Rolling admission to master's programmes

Academic evaluation is carried out by the programme’s Admission Committees.

Please note that they do not provide advance feedback on whether your previous studies or GPA meet the programme requirements. 

These are only assessed at the time of academic evaluation, after the application form has been submitted.

What is an incomplete bachelor's degree?

An incomplete bachelor’s degree means that you have not yet graduated and have not been awarded a degree certificate or a provisional degree certificate.

Please note that completing all required studies does not mean that you have graduated. Graduation is only confirmed once you have been officially awarded a degree certificate or a provisional degree certificate.

If you are unable to upload a degree certificate or a provisional degree certificate to your application by the supplementary document deadline, you must indicate on the application form that you have not yet graduated.

A provisional degree certificate is an official document issued by the university. It is similar in form and status to the final degree certificate but is issued temporarily before the official graduation ceremony.

Please note that a statement or letter from university staff confirming that you have completed your studies is not considered a provisional degree certificate and will not be accepted.
 

• Indicate your estimated graduation date on the application form.
  No official confirmation from your home university is required.
• Upload your most recent transcript of records to the application form, including an official translation if required.
• The transcript of records must state the degree title.
  If the degree title is not indicated, you must also upload an official statement from the awarding institution confirming the degree title.
   

You must:

• Graduate by 31 August 2027.
• Submit the following documents by email ([email protected]) by 31 August 2027 at 15:00 (UTC+3)
  • Your original a degree certificate or a provisional degree certificate
  • Your original transcript of records
• Submit the following documents by email ([email protected]) by 7 September 2027 at 15:00 (UTC+3)
  • Official translations in English, if the original documents are not issued in English, Finnish, or Swedish.
     

All documents must be submitted in accordance with the given instructions, regardless of the country where the degree was awarded.

If you do not graduate by the specified deadline and/or fail to submit the required documents, your study place will be cancelled automatically and cannot be reinstated.

You may choose to apply either independently or through an education agent.

All applications in each programme are evaluated based on the same general requirements and programme-specific admission criteria, regardless of how you apply.

If you apply through an agent, please note that you are responsible for completing the application form yourself.

• Applicants with a bachelor's degree completed in Finland, another EU or EEA country, or Switzerland
• Applicants with a bachelor's degree completed in other countries

Application forms are available only during the application period.

Applications are submitted through the national application portal, Studyinfo. To access the application form in Studyinfo, first search for the programme you wish to apply for.

You may apply to only one programme, either in business administration, social sciences and communication sciences or technology.

If multiple application forms are submitted by the same applicant using either same or different email addresses 

• earlier application(s) will be automatically discarded
• only the most recent application will be considered valid

• Upload only one file per required document.
• Combine all pages of each document into a single file in the correct order.

Make sure that:

Naming your documents

Name your files clearly and correctly, for example:

• Degree certificate - bachelor
• Transcript of records - bachelor
• Letter of motivation

Accepted file formats

Documents must be uploaded in one of the following formats:

• PDF
• JPG
• PNG
   

Language of non-educational documents

If you upload non-educational documents (e.g. work certificates) that are not in English, Finnish, or Swedish, you must:

• provide an official or authorised translation into English
• upload the translation together with the original in one file

Documents in other languages will not be evaluated.

Do not send documents by post or email 

Once you have submitted your application form and paid the application fee (if applicable), LUT Admissions Services will begin processing your application.

We will check that your documents have been uploaded correctly and assess your English language proficiency.

If your application is technically incomplete

You must update your application form (if needed) and upload any missing documents

• within your personal 7-day supplementary deadline

from the date you receive the supplementary request by email.

LUT Admissions Services will first assess the technical eligibility of your application. This includes verifying your educational documents and your English language proficiency.

If you are requested to modify your application form or upload additional or missing documents, you must do so within your personal 7-day supplementary deadline.

Only complete applications will be forwarded for academic evaluation. ⚠️

Academic evaluation in separate admission groups

Applications to each programme are evaluated in separate admission groups. The grouping is based on the country where the applicant’s bachelor’s degree was completed.
 

Technology 
Social sciences and communication sciences

Applicants are evaluated in the following two admission groups:

1. Bachelor’s degree completed in Finland
2. Bachelor’s degree completed in other countries
    

Business administration

Applicants are evaluated in the following admission groups:

1. Bachelor’s degree completed in Finland, another EU/EEA country or Switzerland
2. Bachelor’s degree completed in other countries

Stage 1: Evaluation of educational background 

The evaluation begins with stage 1, where applications are assessed and awarded points based on programme-specific criteria:

• educational background 
• other relevant elements

Stage 2: Interview (if applicable)

In some programmes, the evaluation process also includes an interview.

If an interview is part of the evaluation in the programme you are applying to, please check your email regularly, including your spam/junk folder, for a possible invitation.

The admisson result will be released

• within two months from the date the application was forwarded for academic evaluation.

All applicants included in the academic evaluation will receive an admission decision by email.

If you are admitted

LUT Admissions Services will send you an official admission email informing you of the outcome of your application.

The admission email includes a certificate of admission at the beginning of the message. 

No separate certificate will be sent by email or post.

The admission email is accepted by the Finnish Immigration Service (Migri) as proof of admission when applying for a residence permit.
 

If you are not admitted

If your application was forwarded for academic evaluation, you will receive an official admission decision by email as soon as the result is ready to be released. 

According to national regulations, you may accept only one study place leading to a higher education degree in Finland per semester.

• Once you have confirmed a study place, the decision is final and cannot be changed. ⚠️
  You cannot cancel a confirmed place to accept another offer.

If you have (or have previously had) a Finnish personal identity code

Log in to My Studyinfo using your Finnish e-identification methods.
 

If you do not have a Finnish personal identity code

Early bird discount (applied automatically)

You will automatically receive an Early Bird discount of EUR 5,000 for the first academic year if you:

• accept your study place by your personal deadline ⚠️
• pay the remaining tuition fee of EUR 10,000 by the same deadline ⚠️
   

If you do not pay the early bird tuition fee by the deadline

If you accept your place by your personal deadline but do not pay the early bird tuition fee by that same deadline, you will automatically 

• lose both the early bird discount and your right to study. ⚠️

You may still request to reactivate your right to study by contacting LUT Student Customer Service team after you have paid the full tuition fee of EUR 15,000 for the first academic year. 

A reactivation fee of EUR 50 will be charged.

Once you have accepted your study place, you can enrol via the OILI enrolment system via My Studyinfo.

To complete your enrolment, you must pay the compulsory Student Union membership fee through the OILI system.

If you do not complete your enrolment by the deadline, you will automatically 

• lose your right to study. ⚠️

You may still apply for late enrolment and request reactivation of your right to study by:

An additional reactivation fee of EUR 50 will be charged. This is paid in addition to the compulsory Student Union membership fee.

The following instructions apply to degrees completed in all countries, including Finland. ⚠️

If you are admitted with an unfinished bachelor's degree, you must always submit your educational documents to LUT Admissions Services by email as instructed, regardless of the country where your degree will be completed.

If you accept your study place, you must:

• Graduate by 31 August 2027
• Submit the following documents by email ([email protected]) by 31 August 2027 at 15:00 (UTC+3):
  • your degree certificate or provisional degree certificate
  • your Transcript of Records
• Submit the following documents by email ([email protected]) by 7 September 2027 at 15:00 (UTC+3):
  • official English translations, if the original documents are not issued in English, Finnish, or Swedish 

Failure to provide the required documents as instructed will result in the loss of your study place, which cannot be reinstated. ⚠️

Information about the revocation may also be shared with the relevant Finnish authorities.

Supplementary studies may be required even after admission and the start of studies, if deemed necessary when preparing your personal study plan.

The scope of any supplementary studies is determined based on your previous studies and educational background in relation to the programme’s graduation requirements.

The maximum scope of supplementary studies is 60 ECTS credits. These credits are not included in the 120 ECTS credits required for the Master’s degree.

Non-EU/EEA citizens

Citizens of countries outside the EU/EEA (excluding Switzerland) are required to pay tuition fees.

Early Bird discount (first academic year)

You will automatically receive an Early Bird discount if you:

• accept your study place by your personal deadline 
• pay the remaining tuition fee of EUR 10,000 by the same deadline 

LUT Scholarship (second academic year)

• EUR 5,000

The LUT Scholarship for the second academic year is awarded automatically if you: 

• complete at least 60 ECTS credits in accordance with your personal study plan during the first academic year and 
• pay the remaining tuition fee for the second academic year on time.
