The first Finnish Mechanics Days conference was held in Oulu 40 years ago in 1982. Since then, the conference has been held every three years except in 2021 due to the pandemic.
The conference covers theoretical, computational and experimental mechanics of solids, soils, rocks and fluids – including a large variety of engineering applications: static and dynamic analysis of structures; mechanics of materials; fluid dynamics; fluid-structure interaction; fracture mechanics; fatigue; thermomechanics; micromechanics; contact mechanics; structural optimization; numerical analysis; multibody dynamics; mechatronics; design of structures and machines; industrial and medical applications of mechanics etc.
A special emphasis is given to collaboration between different fields – such as civil engineering, mechanical engineering and fluid dynamics – and collaboration between industry and academia.
The objective of the conference is to stimulate, promote and combine academic research and industrial development of engineering applications within various areas of mechanics, ranging from solid and soil mechanics to fluid mechanics. The conference provides a forum for researchers, engineers, teachers and other professionals to network, discuss and share ideas and information.
Prospective industrial and societal partners are encouraged to take part in realizing the special theme of the XIII Finnish Mechanics Days 2022 – Collaboration in Research, Development, and Education – covering different fields in both academia and industry. Partners can choose to participate in a Diamond, Gold, Silver, or Bronze level partnership. Each comes with various options for visibility and activity. For example, a company logo and written marketing material can be placed on the conference web page, in the conference program, on the conference site, and in the conference publication, Rakenteiden Mekaniikka (Journal of Structural Mechanics). Other perquisites include free registration(s), stands to present marketing information, and a space for a company logo in the conference program.
Date and Venue
The conference is held on May 18–20, 2022, at the LUT University, Lappeenranta
(Yliopistonkatu 34, 53850 Lappeenranta)
