I'm a social scientist with a background in sustainability transitions studies. My research focuses on balancing the urgency of action and social justice in low-carbon energy transitions. I have participated as a researcher and leader in numerous research projects and (co-)authored a number of scientific publications on social challenges in the development of renewable energy, energy communities, just transition of coal-dependent regions, participatory decarbonization, energy policy and governance, and equitable renewable energy deployment in the Global South. My teaching focuses on sustainability transitions, in particular power and justice considerations, citizen engagement, as well as geopolitics of climate change and the global transition to renewables.
Since September 2026, I've been an Academy Research Fellow and principal investigator of the project "Circuits of justice: exploring normative and spatial dimensions of justice across Finland’s battery supply chain" (01.09.2026 - 31.08.2030).
