Biography

Humberto is a Tenure Track Associate Professor of Composite Materials & Solid Mechanics in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at LUT University, Finland. His research focuses on the mechanics of high-performance fibre-reinforced polymer composites. He integrates advanced computational modelling, structural optimisation, data-driven methods and experimental mechanics to understand, predict and improve the behaviour of advanced composite materials and structures.

His main research interests are:

  • X-Ray computed tomography
  • Computational mechanics
  • Multiscale modelling
  • Uncertainty quantification
  • Damage and failure modelling
  • Advanced (i.e., additive) manufacturing of composites
  • Structural optimisation
