BioCO₂‑ES is a development project implemented in South Savo that explores the opportunities for capturing and utilising biogenic carbon dioxide from the perspective of small and medium-sized enterprises.

The project includes a practical demonstration at the Juva heat plant, the development of an open simulation model to support company decision-making, and the assessment of environmental, regional economic and social impacts.

The results are published openly and support the adoption of low-carbon, circular economy–based solutions by regional companies.

Goals

The objective of the project is to strengthen the knowledge and capacities of SMEs in South Savo in the capture and utilisation of biogenic carbon dioxide.

The project produces reliable information on the costs, environmental impacts and economic feasibility of different solutions. In addition, an open simulation model is developed to support investment planning and feasibility studies and to promote the adoption of low-carbon, circular economy–based business models in the region.
