Bachelor's Degree in a field other than Technology or Engineering   

Completed in a University or in a University of Applied Sciences

• Degrees completed only in the closely related fields of study to Technology/Engineering

• Examples for the degrees providing you with a good basis for the programme:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, Physics or Astronomy
  • Master of  Philosophy in Mathematics, Physics, Astronomy or, Information Processing

Note!! Bachelor's Degrees in Business Administration not included.

 

Regarding the degrees mentioned above

• Having completed a Master's Degree still makes you eligible to apply, but only when applying with your Bachelor's Degree.
  
  For example: diplomi-insinööri, maisteri, ylempi AMK-tutkinto
  
   
  • Exception 1:
    
    You are not eligible to apply, if having completed a degree diplomi-insinööri  in a degree programme on the same field of study compared to the programme you are applying to.
    
     
  • Exception 2:
    
    Degree diplomi-insinööri  is accepted for applying, if completed before 2008 when there was no separate Bachelor's Degree awarded.

The Admissions Committee for the programme always reserves a right to decide whether the degree and the completed studies provide the applicant with eligibility to apply to the programme.

Bachelor of Science in Technology or closely related to Technology

Completed in a University - All countries

The degree must be equivalent to a similar Finnish Bachelor of Science Degree

• 3-4 years of full-time studies
• 180 ECTS credits

Bachelor of Engineering   

Completed in a University of Applied Sciences - EU/EEA countries

 

Regarding both the degrees mentioned above

• The degree must give you eligibility to apply to university level Master's studies in the country where the degree was completed in.
• Having completed a Master's Degree still makes you eligible to apply, but only when applying with the Bachelor's Degree
  
   
  • Exception:
    
    Master's Degree with no immediate prior Bachelor's Degree included is accepted for applying.
    
     

Requirements for the degree-awarding university

The university having awarded you the degree you are applying with must be

• An official and recognized part of the national education system
  
   
• Listed on the World Higher Education Database WHED by International Association of Universities
  
   

The Admissions Committee for the programme always reserves a right to decide whether the degree and the completed studies provide the applicant with eligibility to apply to the programme.

To possibly get admitted, you must have completed

• a minimum of 24 ECTS credits of studies in Mathematics, Information Technology, Data Processing, Statistics or Industrial Engineering and Management supportive to the programme

What to do if there are no credits available for the completed courses?

You must prove your proficiency in English with

• one of the accepted language tests OR,
• a degree completed in English in an EU/EEA country or in Australia, Canada, ireland New Zealand, Switzerland, United Kingdom or the United States of America

Carefully filling in the application form

• The application form for Technology is available at www.studyinfo.fi during the application period.
• You can apply to two international programmes in Technology
  • extra applications will be deleted while the latest one remaining.
• Fill carefully in your application form by answering the questions exactly as requested. If failing to present any of the information as requested on your application form, the missing information will not be tracked down from your documents and will not be considered in the evaluation process.

Uploading the documents

• Upload a scan for the original educational documents plus all the other required documents.
• Documents must be clearly readable.
• Combine all individual pages for each document in the right order and upload them preferably as PDF and JPEG documents (max. file size 10 MB).
• Name your documents as 'Degree Certificate - Bachelor', 'Transcript of Records - Bachelor', 'Letter of Motivation'.
• If you can upload an obligatory document only during the 14-day supplementary period after the application deadline, you must upload a blank document for it, stating that the correct document is yet to be uploaded.
• Do not upload any additional documents as they will be automatically ignored by the Admission Committees.

When applying

• Indicate the estimated date of graduation on your Application Form
  • No official statement for the date required from the home university
• Upload your latest Transcript of Records to your Online Application Form
  • plus the official translation (when required)
  • The Transcript of Records must include the name of the degree to be awarded.
    • If not included, an additional statement issued by the awarding university about the name of the degree must be uploaded to your Online Application Form.

If admitted

If admitted, you must be able to

• Graduate by 31 August 2022
• Provide us with the following documents by 31 August 2022 at 15:00 (UTC+3)
  • Scan for your original Degree Certificate
  • Scan for your original Transcript of Records
  • Provide us with the following documents by 6 September 2022 at 15:00 (UTC+3)
  • Scans for the official translations in English for both the documents (when applicable)
    • Official translations required, if the original documents are not issued in English, Finnish or Swedish.

The documents must be provided according to the given instructions despite of the country the degree was awarded in.

If not being able to meet with both the requirements by the given deadlines, your right to study in the programme will automatically be cancelled and you will lose your place without a possibility to claim it back.

Academic success, max. 8.75 points

Arithmetic GPA for the degree you must apply with:

• 3.00 - 3.74 = 5.25 points
• 3.75 - 5.00 = 8.75 points

The GPA considered in the LUT selection process is an arithmetic average of all individual study records included in the degree and graded with numbers, including the Final Thesis and excluding the grades for all the fails. The considered GPA includes two decimals.

Your GPA will be converted on a scale of 1.00 - 5.00 during the evaluation process when the original scale having been a different one.

Previous studies related to the programme, max. 10.00 points

Previous studies in Mathematics, Information Technology/Information Processing, Statistics or Industrial Engineering and Management supportive to the programme are given points as follows:

• 0-24   ECTS credits = 0 points
• 25-34 ECTS credits = 3 points
• 35-50 ECTS credits = 5 points
• 51-70 ECTS credits = 7 points
• 71-     ECTS credits = 10 points

You are responsible for converting, calculating and presenting the required and completed studies in ECTS credits on your application form listed by disciplines and courses according to the following:

• 1 ECTS credit = a workload of 27 hours (lectures, assignments etc.)

What to do if there are no credits available for the completed courses?

On the second stage of the admissions process, a limited number of applicants are invited to an interview in the order of the highest total points achieved on stage one.

The following elements will be evaluated:

• Motivation
• Applicability for the programme
• Communication skills
• Competencies related to the programme gained in practice

The interview will be done as a video interview.
