
Bachelor’s Programme in Digital Business
Digital transformation is reshaping operations in both industrial and service organisations across all sectors. At the same time, data-driven decision-making has become the new norm, and the quality and applications of AI-based solutions are improving and expanding, automating routine tasks, creating new forms of competitive advantage, and leaving many of the old ways obsolete.
This fast-changing environment and its evolving digital tools require professionals who understand the foundations of business and how to apply them in today’s digital world.
After completing the bachelor's degree, you will have the right to continue your studies in the master's programmes at LUT. On the Lahti campus, a new English-language Master's Programme in Strategic Management will start in 2029. On the Lappeenranta campus, you can continue in the following English-language master's programmes: Master’s Programme in International Business and Entrepreneurship, Master’s Programme in International Marketing Management, and Master’s Programme in Supply Management. Additionally, the software engineering minor subject enables you to continue your studies in the Master's Programme in Business Analytics.

What will you learn in the programme?
The Bachelor's Programme in Digital Business will give you a wide range of skills and capabilities to successfully manage digital business in various contexts.
You will build your business expertise on a strong foundation of general studies, including the fundamentals of accounting, finance, and economics, the principles of management and business strategy, mathematics and statistics for economics, academic writing, and professional communication.
In your specialisation studies, you will explore how digital platforms, artificial intelligence, and data are transforming business and enabling entirely new ways to create value. You will learn to understand the logic of the platform economy and digital ecosystems and develop innovative, scalable services in a global context. You will also gain basic skills in designing and managing digitally evolving businesses – that is, implementing change in a customer-oriented manner using data and technology.
The programme also includes a considerable amount of language and communication studies to support your future employment in Finland or internationally. You will graduate within three academic years with highly relevant skills in theory application, communication, problem-solving, and reflection.
Degree structure and studies
The Bachelor’s Programme in Digital Business is a three-year programme. It leads to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Economics and Business Administration, B.Sc. (Econ. & Bus. Admin.), which is 180 ECTS credits.
The programme includes core, advanced specialisation, minor, and language studies as well as a bachelor's thesis.
We strongly encourage you to include an international exchange period in your degree, taking advantage of LUT’s extensive partner network in choosing your exchange university. In addition, if you are an international student planning a career in Finland, we strongly recommend you include 18–20 ECTS credits of Finnish studies in your degree.
Most of the studies will be contact teaching on the Lahti campus. Some individual courses may also be partly or fully online. You will find the attendance requirements for each course in the course descriptions.
Career prospects
After graduating from the Bachelor's Programme in Digital Business, you will be qualified for various positions in industrial or public organisations. You can work as a digital analyst, social media manager, SEO specialist, product or business development manager, junior consultant, digital marketing specialist, digital transformation manager, or business intelligence or AI specialist.
You can also continue your studies in several master’s programmes. On the Lahti campus, a new English-language programme in strategic management will start in 2029. In Lappeenranta, you can continue in English-language master's programmes in fields such as international business and entrepreneurship, international marketing management, and supply management. Additionally, the software engineering minor subject enables you to continue your studies in the business analytics master's programme.
