Degree structure and studies
The Master's Programme in Innovation and Logistics is a two-year programme. It leads to the degree of Master of Science in Technology, M.Sc. (Tech.), which is 120 ECTS credits.
The programme includes core, advanced specialisation, minor and elective studies as well as a Master's thesis.
The programme includes compulsory studies in both innovation and logistics, but during specialisation studies, students can choose more advanced courses to get deeper knowledge of one of the disciplines.
The core (compulsory) and advanced specialisation studies, 66 ECTS credits, include blocks of introductory courses, innovation management (core and advanced), logistics management (core and advanced), analytics (quantitative and qualitative research methods) and additional professional courses (strategic entrepreneurship, industrial project management, digitalization, sustainability, leadership, scientific writing). Industrial challenges and experiential learning are integrated into most of the core and advanced courses.
Examples of courses in advanced specialisation studies: technology commercialisation and venturing, supply chain risk management, open innovation and ecosystems, responsible innovation, system dynamics modelling for industrial management, sustainability and responsibility, simulation and system dynamics, digital entrepreneurship, value and risk management, analytics in logistics and innovation, and product and process marketing.
Minor studies, 24 ECTS credits, can be selected from other LUT programmes in technology, e.g. sustainable energy, environmental responsibility, software engineering, circular economy, advanced material, engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical and process engineering.
Elective studies are the courses that students can choose from any other discipline at LUT to complete their degree.
The Master's thesis, 30 ECTS credits, is an advanced research project during the programme's fourth semester. The Master's thesis requires approximately six months of full-time work and includes a thesis seminar.
