Mahmood Shamsan
Biography
Mahmood Shamsan is a doctoral researcher in Chemical Engineering, with a background in mining, mineral processing, and hydrometallurgy. His academic and research experience has been developed through international studies and research activities across several European institutions.
His current research is focused on the development of sustainable hydrometallurgical processes for the extraction and recovery of refractory metals from secondary resources. Particular attention is given to the integration of chemical and biological leaching with separation and purification techniques, including solvent extraction, ion exchange, and precipitation.
Previous research experience has been gained in mineral flotation, comminution, magnetic separation, and biohydrometallurgy. Through this multidisciplinary background, expertise has been developed across both mineral processing and extractive metallurgy, with a particular interest in resource recovery, circular economy, and the sustainable utilization of secondary raw materials.
