Biography

I have an extensive background working in social-emotional wellness facilitation, English language development (ELD) education design, qualitative data analysis and data safety monitoring. I am originally from the Pacific Northwest in the United States, where I finished my undergraduate education in International Development from Portland State University and worked with the Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization (IRCO) in Portland, Oregon. I have also worked in Burgas, Bulgaria as an English teacher with Fulbright Bulgaria. In 2023, I earned my MA in Education and Globalization in Oulu, Finland from the University of Oulu, where I conducted a qualitative critical ethnographic study on working with immigrant and refugee students in social-emotional wellness. My studies and experience in Oulu and Finland with education brought me to my current research interests and positions at LUT University. I currently work as a PhD junior researcher at LUT University conducting research on how immigrant and refugee communities participate in sustainability transformations in Finland.
