Goals

  • Develop and optimize new food processing strategies for local plants that can be used to produce various value-added commodities for the food industry, such as protein, oil, and fiber.
  • Develop new combinations of innovative food processing methods, such as cold pressing, supercritical extraction, fermentation, and spray drying, which can be used to increase the value of sustainable food products on national and international markets.
  • Increase the innovativeness of local products and the degree of processing of raw materials, and increase knowledge that promotes the growth of exports of responsible products made from Finnish raw materials.
  • Develop a new biorefinery concept that enables the processing of new, higher-value food products.
