Arrival to Lappeenranta

Apartments are booked for the summer school students for the period 24 June−16 July 2023, so you can arrive one or two days before your course/s start. The LUT Summer School assistant will meet you in the railway/bus station and provide you a ride to your accommodation. In May–June, you will be asked to inform your exact arrival time to Lappeenranta via e-mail.

How to get to Lappeenranta

Lappeenranta is located in South-east Finland, approximately 230 km from Helsinki. When arriving at the Helsinki-Vantaa airport, the easiest way to reach Lappeenranta is by bus or by train.

The closest train station to Helsinki-Vantaa Airport is Tikkurila station (approx. 20 minutes from the airport). You can take a commuter train P from the airport to the Tikkurila railway station and board the train to Lappeenranta.

There are also different bus connections from Helsinki to Lappeenranta, provided by Matkahuolto and Onnibus.

Visa requirements

Students requiring a visa should apply for a tourist visa by contacting the nearest Embassy of Finland or consulate. For the visa application, the student has to provide a formal Certificate of Admission. As the Certificate of Admission is only issued on receipt of full payment, we recommend that you apply early and pay in full as soon as possible, as the visa application process may take a few weeks.

Make sure that you have travel insurance when you arrive in Finland.
