The Bachelor's Programme in Technology and Engineering Science enables you to become an expert in multidisciplinary fields of engineering. It covers interdisciplinary topics from essential fields of engineering, enhanced by language studies, entrepreneurship training and transferable skills.

The programme gives you the competence to solve multidisciplinary engineering problems, manage projects, work in multicultural teams or become an entrepreneur. The programme provides extensive hands-on experience and applies theories and techniques from a broad range of engineering fields to practice through interdisciplinary projects.

In this Bachelor's programme you will focus on essential and applicable engineering disciplines, integrating studies of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, energy technology and environmental technology. As a student, you can freely choose a specialisation during your second academic year.

The Bachelor's degree gives you a sound basis and direct route to further studies in LUT Master's programmes in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, energy technology or environmental technology.

In this Bachelor's programme you will gain a solid foundation in a range of techniques to solve complex engineering problems, taking into account the growing general awareness of environmental technologies.

You will graduate within three academic years with a unique and adaptable multidisciplinary skill set that will meet the current demands of industry, education and technology.

In this programme, you will learn advanced mathematics skills, diverse engineering design skills, goal-oriented problem-solving, productive project work, transferable skills in entrepreneurship and engineering, and teamwork and language skills relevant to international industry.

This Bachelor's degree gives you a sound basis and direct route to further studies in LUT Master's programmes in the fields of electrical engineering, energy technology, environmental engineering or mechanical engineering.

The Bachelor's Programme in Technology and Engineering Science is a three-year programme. By completing the programme you will receive the degree of Bachelor's of Science in Technology, B.Sc. (Tech.), which is 180 ECTS credits.

The programme includes general studies and intermediate specialisation studies. Language and communication studies are also included in the programme.

After completing this Bachelor's programme, you will have a direct study right to continue your studies in the Master's programmes at LUT in the fields of energy technology, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or environmental engineering.

Studying in practice

During your studies, you will become acquainted with phenomena related to heat, heat transfer, liquid and gas flows, power plant technology and its safe operation, and environmentally friendly energy production and distribution systems. You will also become familiar with energy business.

You will be able to look at the use of different forms of energy in, for example, energy production, heating, transport and industry. You will learn to understand how much energy is produced, distributed and used and how emissions are generated and controlled. You will get a comprehensive overview of how energy resources are used.

Your studies will consist of theory lectures, calculation exercises, company visits, and projects conducted independently and in groups. Exercises and projects will prepare you to apply your knowledge and skills to practical work and take responsibility for professional tasks. They also support the development of your teamwork and presentation skills.

In addition to lectures and assignments, your studies will include a great deal of laboratory work: you will learn to measure and analyse temperatures, pressure, thermal conductivity and radiation, among other things, and apply them to energy production. At the same time, you will also practice your reporting skills.

The programme collaborates with the working world: it invites visiting lecturers and arranges projects together with companies in the area. The teaching staff also has strong practical knowledge related to industry.

Students from other degree programmes are often involved in projects and other assignments. Interdisciplinary studies increase interaction between different fields and encourage you to take different perspectives into account and find new types of solutions.
