This year marks the sixth time the Metsä360 Award has been presented. The prize is given in recognition of an innovation, solution, or action that increases the added value of forests.

“New bio-based, sustainable solutions can open up new markets for Finland and improve the country’s economic growth. The importance of innovations is highlighted especially in the achievement of sustainability and climate targets,” says Esko Kolli, spokesperson for the Marjatta and Eino Kolli Foundation.

A group of experts from LUT University and the Marjatta and Eino Kolli Foundation set out to seek candidates for the award this spring and will select three finalists from among them. The winner is chosen by an annually changing panel of judges. This year’s winner will be announced in November 2025.

The Junior Metsä360 video competition was also launched this spring. It encourages the younger generation to highlight the value of forests and reflect on how forest-based products are present in our daily lives. The competition is open to seventh and eighth graders.

“Encouraging young people to appreciate forests is important for the future of the forest industry as well as society. The Metsä360 competition helps young people to see forests with fresh eyes,” says Mari Kallioinen-Mänttäri, dean of the LUT School of Engineering Sciences.

The Metsä360 competition welcomes entries until 30 September 2025. The winning video receives 3,000 euros, the first runner-up receives 2,000 euros, and the second runner-up 1,000 euros.
