LUT University - Rolling admission for domestic applicants to bachelor's programmes in English in 2025-2026

LUT University is changing its admissions process and moving to rolling admission for its English-language bachelor’s programmes. This means LUT’s English-language bachelor’s programmes will no longer be included in the first joint application round in 2026.

As a result, Finnish applicants can apply to LUT’s English-language bachelor's programmes starting in November and to Finnish-language programmes in the spring. Applicants can then decide in July, in line with the national deadline for higher education institutions, which student place to accept. The change applies only to applicants who have completed their degree in Finland.

“Many young people are currently left without a place to study. We aim to address this by offering swift and straightforward access to study opportunities – without unnecessary delays or uncertainty related to waitlists. We also seek to ensure that Finnish students have strong access to international degree programmes,” says Anne Himanka, director of study affairs at LUT University.

More flexibility for applicants

Rolling admission was previously available only to international applicants. From now on, applicants who have completed their degree in Finland can also apply through rolling admission. The change applies only to English-language bachelor’s programmes.

Rolling admission for domestic applicants to bachelor's programmes in English will run from 1 November 2025 to 31 March 2026. Applicants can be accepted throughout the admission period.

“This is a student-friendly change: applicants can secure a place to study months before the spring admissions and will immediately see what’s required for them to get accepted. There are also dedicated quotas for those applying with complete and incomplete qualifications. LUT is the only university where secondary school graduates can apply to English-language bachelor’s programmes already in the autumn,” Himanka continues.

The change does not affect international applicants – their application process continues as before. The admissions process for master’s programmes will also remain the same.
