Selection Process

Admission for the programme is organised in two admission groups.

Group I  Applying With a SAT Test

In admission group I the applicants are ranked based on their scores in the obligatory SAT Test.

Applicants are ranked based on the highest total points achieved in the SAT Test.

In case of applicants ranked with the same total points, all the applicants having achieved the minimum required total points will be admitted.

Any updates or preliminary information on your application status will not be given during the application process.

Group II  Applying With Finnish Matriculation Examination or related results

In admission group II admission is based on the admission score which is calculated based on the grades achieved in the Finnish matriculation examination, International Baccalaureate, European Baccalaureate, or Reifeprüfung/Die Deutsche Internationale Abiturprüfung.

To be considered for direct admission, you must meet the following minimum entry requirements:

  • received at least grade C for the matriculation examination in physics and completed the matriculation examination in advanced-level mathematics OR
  • received at least grade C for the matriculation examination in chemistry and completed the matriculation examination in advanced-level mathematics OR
  • received at least grade M for the matriculation examination in advanced-level mathematics

If you hold the IB, EB or RP/DIA diploma, your admission score is calculated based on the same examinations as the admission score of applicants who are seeking direct admission through DIA joint admissions for engineering and architecture (Diplomi-insinööri- ja arkkitehtikoulutusten yhteisvalinta, DIA). Applicants who meet the minimum entry requirements are ranked based on their admission score.

In case of there are applicants with the same points, the one having a higher grade in Mother tongue will be admitted.

When calculating the initial admission score, the grades of International Baccalaureate (IB), European Baccalaureate (EB), and Reifeprüfung (RP)/ Die Deutsche Internationale Abiturprüfung (DIA) will be converted according to the table below.
