Regarding the degrees mentioned above
- Having completed a Master's Degree still makes you eligible to apply, but only when applying with your Bachelor's Degree.
For example: diplomi-insinööri, maisteri, ylempi AMK-tutkinto
- Exception 1:
You are not eligible to apply, if having completed a degree diplomi-insinööri in a degree programme on the same field of study compared to the programme you are applying to.
- Exception 2:
Degree diplomi-insinööri is accepted for applying, if completed before 2008 when there was no separate Bachelor's Degree awarded.
- Exception 1:
The Admissions Committee for the programme always reserves a right to decide whether the degree and the completed studies provide the applicant with eligibility to apply to the programme.
Bachelor of Science in Technology or closely related to Technology
Completed in a University - All countries
The degree must be equivalent to a similar Finnish Bachelor of Science Degree

Bachelor of Engineering
Completed in a University of Applied Sciences - EU/EEA countries
Regarding both the degrees mentioned above
- The degree must give you eligibility to apply to university level Master's studies in the country where the degree was completed in.

Master's Degree with no immediate prior Bachelor's Degree included is accepted for applying.

Requirements for the degree-awarding university
The university having awarded you the degree you are applying with must be
- An official and recognized part of the national education system
- Listed on the World Higher Education Database WHED by International Association of Universities
The Admissions Committee for the programme always reserves a right to decide whether the degree and the completed studies provide the applicant with eligibility to apply to the programme.

a minimum of 40 ECTS credits of studies in Physics,

What to do if there are no credits available for the completed courses?
To be eligible to apply, the arithmetic GPA for the degree you have to apply with must be
- a minimum of 2.50 on the scale of 1.00 - 5.00.
The GPA considered is an arithmetic average of all individual study records with numeric grading that are included in the degree. The Final Thesis is to be included and the failed grades are to be excluded.
You must prove your proficiency in English with
- one of the accepted language tests OR,
- a degree completed in English in an EU/EEA country or in Australia, Canada, ireland New Zealand, Switzerland, United Kingdom or the United States of America

Applying
Carefully filling in the application form
- The application form for Technology is available at www.studyinfo.fi during the application period.
- You can apply to two international programmes in Technology
- extra applications will be deleted while the latest one remaining.
- Fill carefully in your application form by answering the questions exactly as requested. If failing to present any of the information as requested on your application form, the missing information will not be tracked down from your documents and will not be considered in the evaluation process.
Uploading the documents
- Upload a scan for the original educational documents plus all the other required documents.
- Documents must be clearly readable.
- Combine all individual pages for each document in the right order and upload them preferably as PDF and JPEG documents (max. file size 10 MB).
- Name your documents as 'Degree Certificate - Bachelor', 'Transcript of Records - Bachelor', 'Letter of Motivation'.
- If you can upload an obligatory document only during the 14-day supplementary period after the application deadline, you must upload a blank document for it, stating that the correct document is yet to be uploaded.
- Do not upload any additional documents as they will be automatically ignored by the Admission Committees.

When applying
- Indicate the estimated date of graduation on your Application Form
- No official statement for the date required from the home university
- Upload your latest Transcript of Records to your Online Application Form
- plus the official translation (when required)
- The Transcript of Records must include the name of the degree to be awarded.
- If not included, an additional statement issued by the awarding university about the name of the degree must be uploaded to your Online Application Form.
If admitted
If admitted, you must be able to
- Graduate by 31 August 2022
- Provide us with the following documents by 31 August 2022 at 15:00 (UTC+3)
- Scan for your original Degree Certificate
- Scan for your original Transcript of Records
- Provide us with the following documents by 6 September 2022 at 15:00 (UTC+3)
- Scans for the official translations in English for both the documents (when applicable)
- Official translations required, if the original documents are not issued in English, Finnish or Swedish.
The documents must be provided according to the given instructions despite of the country the degree was awarded in.
If not being able to meet with both the requirements by the given deadlines, your right to study in the programme will automatically be cancelled and you will lose your place without a possibility to claim it back.
Evaluation
Before the academic evaluation begins, the admission committee checks the programme-specific requirements and the applicants meeting with the requirements will move forward to academic evaluation.
The final selection will be done based on
- Points for stage 1 OR,
- Total points for stage 1 + 2
The majority of applicants will be admitted based on the application documents and only the applicants with total points close to the limit for getting admitted, may be interviewed.
Stage 1: Educational background
The applicant's educational background will be evaluated according to the elements included in the evaluation and based on the application documents.
Stage 2: Potential interview (only if needed)
A limited number of applicants are invited to an interview, if needed.
Previous related studies, max. 5 points
Studies in Physics, supportive to the programme are given points as follows:
- 40-50 ECTS credits = 0 point
- 51-60 ECTS credits = 1 point
- 61-70 ECTS credits = 2 points
- 71-80 ECTS credits = 3 points
- 81-90 ECTS credits = 4 points
- 91- ECTS credits = 5 points
You are responsible for converting, calculating and presenting the required and completed studies in ECTS credits on your application form listed by disciplines and courses according to the following:
- 1 ECTS credit = a workload of 27 hours (lectures, assignments etc.)

You must upload a separate Transcript of Records for any additional studies completed, indicate links to any scientific publications as well as provide relevant documentation for having participated in other academic activity during studies.
Academic Success, max. 5 points
Arithmetic GPA for the degree you must apply with:
- 2.50 - 2.99 = 1 point
- 3.00 - 3.99 = 3 points
- 4.00 - 5.00 = 5 points
The GPA considered in the LUT selection process is an arithmetic average of all individual study records included in the degree and graded with numbers, including the Final Thesis and excluding the grades for all the fails. The considered GPA includes two decimals.
Your GPA will be converted on a scale of 1.00 - 5.00 during the evaluation process when the original scale having been a different one.
Motivation, max. 5 points
Your motivation for successfully completing your studies in the programme will be evaluated based on your Letter of Motivation.
In your Letter of Motivation, you must carefully present your orientation towards the programme and your reasons for applying. Moreover, you need to reflect your strengths towards the programme an explain how completing the programme would support your career plans in the future.
The majority of the students are admitted based on the points for stage 1.
If necessary, the applicants with points close to the limit for getting admitted or not, may be interviewed.
In the possible interview, you are asked to give more detailed information on your motivation, your possibilities and competence for successfully completing the programme. Your language and communication skills will be evaluated as well.
