The project, in collaboration with other stakeholders, aims to determine the required features of new and refurbished support vessels, identify operational constraints, and plan potential measurements to analyze operational profiles. The annual operational profile will be estimated using data provided by project partners.

A calculation method and tool originally developed for work machinery will be adapted for the vessel type under study. Operating costs will be partially calculated using this tool, along with collected data on operational profiles and/or routes.

As part of the project, a calculation model will be developed, including CAPEX estimations for the selected powertrain solution and a preliminary cost estimate for vessel construction. The operational cost model will be based on the vessel’s annual operating profile. This model can later be utilized by organizations planning vessel investments or constructing vessels. The next-generation vessels will enable compliance with increasingly strict environmental regulations in inland waterway transport.

Goals

The main objective of the project is to develop a technical solution model for modernizing the next generation of auxiliary vessels used in timber floating, and to test its technical feasibility through simulation modeling based on measured operational profiles of the vessels. The goal is that, by the end of the project, there will be technical readiness for piloting the first next-generation auxiliary vessel for timber rafting.
