Effects of the COVID-19 situation on the library service
LUT and LAB Lappeenranta and Lahti campuses are closed until for the time being, the library facilities are not available external customers. Please note that the last service days before summer closure are Tuesday 22.6. in Lahti and Thursday 24.6. in Lappeenranta. The customer service is available via e-mail throughout the summer.
The library offers self-directed use for LUT and LAB students and staff from May 17 until midsummer.
1. Can I borrow books?
LUT and LAB students and staff can borrow books using the self-checkout machines during campus opening hours.
External customers please follow these instructions to borrow print material:
Once you receive the request arrival e-mail, arrange a pick- up appointment by filling in the online form. Please note that pick-up is available in Lappeenranta on Tuesdays and Thursdays 10.00-14.00 and in Lahti on Tuesdays and Thursdays 12.00-14.00 during May, and on Tuesdays 12.00-14.00 in June. You will receive confirmation of the appointment via e-mail with further instructions of the pick-up location. Please note that the last service days before summer closure are Tuesday 22.6. in Lahti and Thursday 24.6. in Lappeenranta

4. Do I need a library card?
A personal library card is required to borrow printed material. LUT and LAB students and staff can make an appointment to pick up the library card, please use the online form to make the appointment. Other customers need to fill in the patron sign up form and then arrange for a library card pick up appointment by using this online form.
5. Why are the materials I've requested already in my loans?
The materials you have requested are loaned to you in advance on the pick-up date so the requests may appear in your loans before you go to pick them up.

1. How do I return items while the library is closed?
LUT and LAB students and staff can return their loans to the library during campus opening hours. External customers please follow the instructions below if you want to return your items in person. You can also post your loans to the library. Please note that the library is not responsible for items lost in post.
Lappeenranta: You can return items by booking a returns appointment using the online form. The appointments are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 12:00 - 14:00. The books will returned from your account on the same day. Please note that the last appointment date before summer closure is Thursday 24.6.
Lahti: You can return items by booking a returns appointment using the online form. The appointments are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 12:00 - 14:00. Fines and fees
1. Will overdue fines accrue during the library closure?
Yes, overdue fines will accrue unless you renew or return your loan by the due date.
2. How can I pay my overdue fines?
You can pay your library fines and fees online in Primo by going to "My profile" and clicking Pay fines. The minimum amount for online payment is 0,65€.
Service hours and channels
1. When will the library reopen?
The library is open to LUT and LAB students and staff from May 17. Campuses and library facilities are closed to external customers. Customer service is available online. Necessary book lending and return services are provided, please see the instructions above.
2. How can I contact the library?
You can contact the library via email or use the chat on the library website. We will reply to you by the next working day. Please use the online booking form to arrange a customer service appointment for borrowing and returns.

Printing is currently not available at the library, as the library facilities are closed due to COVID-19.
1. Can I book a Thesis space?
Access to the campus is decided by the vice-rector (Education) in both universities. If you are granted permission to study on campus and you require a workstation to write your thesis please contact the LUT Academic Library Lappeenranta: email@example.com.
2. How can I collect the key to Thesis?
Please contact LUT Adacemic Library Lappeenranta or book customer service appointment using the online form to arrange for key collection. You must have the vice rector's permission to access the campus and a Thesis reserved prior to the key collection. Please bring a photo ID with you for the appointment.
3. How do I return the Thesis key?
You can return the Thesis key to the post box in the lobby or you can book a customer service appointment using the online form and arrange for a return time. If you return the key to the post box please let us know via e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
