Biography

Professor Eveliina Repo is a tenured full professor at LUT University, leading the research group Hydrometallurgy for Urban Mining. Her research focuses on sustainable material technologies and circular economy solutions, particularly the selective recovery of critical metals and nutrients from industrial side streams, wastewater, and end-of-life products. She develops advanced separation methods using metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), electrochemical processes, and additive manufacturing techniques such as 3D printing to create functional materials for resource recovery. Her work also includes innovative approaches like utilizing sludge for hard carbon production for batteries and developing bio-based antimicrobial materials. Repo has secured significant national and EU research funding and published extensively in high-impact journals. In addition to research, she has strong teaching experience, having completed professional pedagogical training and lectured on courses such as Advanced Water Treatment, Chemical Thermodynamics, and Solution Chemistry and Electrochemistry. She has led the Master’s Programme in Water Technology and currently oversees the Bachelor’s Programme in Chemical and Process Engineering. Through her research and teaching, Repo promotes sustainable technologies that reduce dependence on primary raw materials and support the transition to a resource-efficient, low-carbon society.
