Biography

Cassia Almeida obtained her B.E., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), Brazil, in 2000, 2002, and 2006, respectively. During her M.Sc., she spent six months at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), Brazil, and during her doctoral studies, she spent one year at McGill University, Canada. In 2008, she joined the Federal University of São João del-Rei as a professor. Between 2020 and 2022, she was an Associate Professor at the Federal Center for Technological Education of Minas Gerais (CEFET-MG), Brazil. Since 2022, she has been working as a teacher and researcher with the Cyber-Physical Systems Group at Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology (LUT), Finland. Her research interests include finite element mesh and remeshing, programming, demand-side management, renewable energy, industrial microgrids, and electricity distribution.
