The student protests that began last week in Finland continue this week on several university campuses nationwide. The protests, taking place in the form of campus occupations, criticize the cuts planned by the Finnish Government. Students want to draw attention especially to housing benefits, tuition fees, and student mental health services.

According to Rector Juha-Matti Saksa, LUT University, and President Turo Kilpeläinen, LAB University of Applied Sciences, both universities support their students’ peaceful protests.

"It is important that students can focus on their studies. Their well-being is very important to us," the rectors said.
