Master’s Programme in Engineering, Entrepreneurship and Resources

Fall/winter term

Students start the first semester with basic education and lay the scientific and technological foundations. Four specialisations are offered in the fields of technical and mechanical engineering at the four entry universities, i.e. the four partner universities located in the ESEE region. Students can follow one of the four tracks with the respective specialisations:

• End-to-end engineering of machine-building production. Entry university is Dnipro University of Technology (DUT), Ukraine.
• Mineral processing and environmental technologies. Entry university is Technical University of Kosice (TUKE), Slovakia.
• Environmental engineering. Entry university is University of Miskolc (ME), Hungary.
• Industrial engineering and management. Entry university is University of Sarajevo (UNSA), Bosnia-Herzegovina  

Spring/summer term

Students will spend the second semester at LUT University in Finland and acquire or enhance their professional, personal and entrepreneurial competencies. They will take part in advanced courses in the field of Chemical and Process Engineering (15 ECTS credits).

For the other 15 ECTS credits, students will participate at the modules in entrepreneurship and business. Basic knowledge and skills of innovation and entrepreneurship matters will be covered. On the basis of solid technological knowledge and skills, students will develop their managerial and entrepreneurial skills which are necessary to bring an innovative idea into market.

During the summer break, every student can collect practical experinence through an industrial internship for at least 8 weeks. Towards the objective of combining in-depth engineering knowledge and skills with innovation management techniques, students can gain hands-on experience of solving real-life challenges through an internship at a non-academic partner. Students can also apply for and profit from additional educational activities, organised or supported by the EIT RawMaterials Academy.

Fall/winter term

For the third semester, students will continue the study at the Technische Universität Bergakademie Freiberg (TUBAF) in Germany. They will gain at least 30 ECTS credits in the field of study on Mechanical and Process Engineering with a specialisation in maintenance and sustainable engineering. The range of courses will cover topics like conception of process equipment, discrete element method, process design mineral processing and recycling.

Spring/summer term

For the fourth semester, students will work on the Master’s thesis at their home universities. They will be provided with the opportunity to practice their scientific skills, apply the already acquired subject specific knowledge and skills into the realisation of an original research work. The thesis will be jointly supervised by a group of 3 professors, one from LUT University (Finland), one from TUBAF (Germany) and one of the ESEE universities.
