Degree structure and studies
The Master's Programme in Data-Centric Engineering is a two-year programme. It leads to the degree of Master of Science in Technology, M.Sc. (Tech.), which is 120 ECTS credits.
The programme includes advanced specialisation, minor and elective studies as well as a Master's thesis.
In advanced specialisation studies, 53 ECTS credits, you will focus on either Applied Mathematics or Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition.
In Applied Mathematics, you will study modelling and simulation systems, inverse problems, intelligent data analysis and uncertainty quantification, computational fluid dynamics.
In Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, topics include computer vision and machine vision, pattern recognition and data analytics based on machine learning, digital imaging, image processing and analysis.
In minor studies, 20 ECTS credits, you can choose from technical physics, business analytics, software engineering and digital transformation, embedded systems and communications.
Elective studies can be chosen from any discipline at LUT to complement your studies.
The Master's thesis, 30 ECTS credits, is an advanced research project completed during the fourth semester. The Master's thesis requires approximately six months of full-time work.

Double degree studies
The Master's Programme in Data-Centric Engineering also offers a possibility for double degree studies. Students admitted to complete the Master's degree in the Data-Centric Engineering programme at LUT or in its partner universities may apply to the double degree programme.
Students admitted to the double degree programme receive a degree certificate from two universities after they have fulfilled the degree requirements of both universities.
