Santeri Kurkinen

Junior researcher in research group of Industrial Hydrometallurgy led by Docent Sami Virolainen. My reseacher focuses on the recovery and purification of rare earth elements (REE) from secondary source. I'm using industrial waste material, phosphogypsum, as my secondary source of the REEs. Main method for extraction and purification is ion exchange based solutions (Resin-in-leach, chromatography etc.) As a final result from my reseach I produce rare earth oxides (REO).
