The Social Sustainability and Welfare Policies research group studies sustainability from the perspective of social sciences, paying special attention to social sustainability. The core research interests of the group include how societal transformations, like digitalization and population ageing, influence social sustainability and how welfare policies and politics of welfare state interact with sustainability, for example in relation to implementation of UN sustainable development goals, but also how social and political discourses seek to frame definitional aspects of sustainability.
