Admissions Process


Application period

  • December 1, 2020 - January 20, 2021 at 15:00 (UTC+2)

Academic Evaluation and Selection

  • January - March 2021

    • Eligible applications will be evaluated by the Admission Committees for the Master's Programmes.
      No updates to be given to the applicants during the evaluation process or before the results being released.
       
    • A certain number of applicants with the highest points scored in the preliminary selection will be invited to an interview, when interviews being part of the evaluation process
      Interviews will be carried out either through a video interview, in person or, through Skype depending on the programme and on the applicant's location.
       
    • Student selections will be carried out and finalised by the Admission Committees.
      No updates to be given to the applicants during the evaluation process or before the results being released.
       
  • March 25, 2021

    • Student selections for 2021-2022 will be published on March 25, 2021.

    • Admitted students informed by e-mail about the admission result/s
      Admitted students will receive an admission e-mail about being admitted and the information on the decision for a possible Tuition Fee Waiver (when applicable).
      The admission e-mail will be sent to the e-mail address indicated on the Online Application Form.
      There will be separate e-mails sent for each programme the student has been admitted to.

    • Non-admitted applicants informed by e-mail about the admission result/s
      The e-mail will be sent to the e-mail address indicated on the Online Application Form.
      There will be separate e-mails sent for each programme the student was not admitted to.

  • By April 1, 2021

    • Admitted students will be e-mailed the official admission documents
      We will e-mail the admitted students an official Certificate of Admission and Decision for the Tuition Fee Waiver (when applicable) together with other relevant information.
      The information on the official Decision for the Tuition Fee Waiver (when applicable) is exactly the same as already given on the admission e-mail on March 25, 2021.
       

Deadlines for Admitted Students

  • APRIL 30, 2021 at 15:00 (UTC+3)

    • DL for accepting your LUT place in the programme
      You must accept your LUT place at MyStudyInfo.
      Students with a Finnish ID number will log into MyStudyInfo with their e-identification methods at www.studyinfo.fi.
      Students without a Finnish ID number will receive an e-mail from StudyInfo, including a personal link that they will use for logging into MyStudyInfo.
      Not following the DL will automatically lead into losing your place in the programme.

      NOTE: You may only accept ONE place in Finland* - the first place accepted will be your first and final choice.
      You will NOT be able to change it anymore - or first cancel and then accept another one.

      *Study place leading into a higher education degree and starting during that one same academic semester.

       
    • DL for enrolling for the academic year of 2021-2022
      The enrolment is finalised by paying the Student Union fee - you can enter the payment from MyStudyInfo after having enrolled.
      The Student Union fee can be paid either via online banking or by credit card.
      Not following the DL will automatically lead into losing your place in the programme - you may re-enroll, but only against an additional payment for re-enrolling.
       
    • DL for paying the first installment for the tuition fee at LUTshop (the first 50% of the tuition fee remaining after a possible Tuition Fee Waiver)
      If not being able to pay the tuition fee at LUTshop, please contact scholarships@lut.fi to order an invoice for making the payment.
      The DL for the invoice payment is the same as when paying at LUTshop.
  • MAY 29, 2021

    • DL for paying the second installment for the tuition fee at LUTshop (the final 50% of the tuition fee remaining after a possible Tuition Fee Waiver)
      If not being able to pay the tuition fee at LUTshop, please contact scholarships@lut.fi to order an invoice for making the payment.
      The DL for the invoice payment is the same as when paying at LUTshop.
  • AUGUST 31, 2021 at 15:00 (UTC+3)

    • DL for document authentication for the admitted students already having been graduated at the time of applying and having to follow the country-specific requirements for document authentication.
      See the detailed instructions at Required Documents > Document Authentication.
    • DL for the conditionally admitted* students to graduate
    • DL for the conditionally admitted* students to e-mail LUT Admissions Services the scans for the educational documents
      You must be able to e-mail us a scan for your original Degree Certificate and original Transcript of Records together with the original official translations in English (when applicable) by August 31, 2021 at 15:00 (UTC+3).
      If not being able to provide us with the official translations (when applicable) at the same time, you must be able to provide us with the translations by September 6, 2021 at 15:00 (UTC+3).

      *Conditionally admitted = an undergraduate at the time of applying.
      If not being able to graduate and provide us with the required scans for the documents as requested by the given DL, your right to study will be automatically cancelled.
  • SEPTEMBER 6, 2021 at 15:00 (UTC+3)

    • DL for the conditionally admitted* students to e-mail LUT Admissions Services the scans for the official translations for the educational documents
      You must be able to e-mail us a scan for the official translation in English for your original Degree Certificate and original Transcript of Records (when applicable) by September 6, 2021 at 15:00 (UTC+3), if not having been able to do that earlier.

Presenting the Original Degree Certificate

  • Degree Not Completed in Finland

    • Prepare to bring your original Degree Certificate and Transcript of Records* with you during the Orientation Days at LUT University.
      You will sign in your documents for the final verification process as a final part of your admission.
      Not presenting the required documents or presenting documents involved in forgery will lead into revoking your study right at LUT University plus, LUT filing a report to the Police and Finnish Immigration Service.
      *DC and ToR for the degree you applied with to the LUT Master's Programme.

    • Students in the programmes based in Lahti Campus
      No need to bring your original Degree Certificate as the verification will be completed by using other methods.
      In a possible case of the documents involved in forgery, it will lead into revoking your study right at LUT University plus, LUT filing a report to the Police and Finnish Immigration Service.

       

  • Degree Completed in Finland

    • No need to bring your original Degree Certificate.
      The verification is done from a national educational database.

 

Supplementary Courses May Be Required

  • If necessary, you may be requested to take supplementary courses after having started your studies at LUT University.
    • When building up your personal study plan for your Master's Degree, if turning out that you would not have the minimum required studies included in your Bachelor's Degree that are a must for being able to graduate from a Finnish Master's Programme, you may be requested to take supplementary courses.
    • The maximum of the possible supplementary courses is 60 ECTS credits and they will not be included in the 120 ECTS credits of the Master's Programme.

Request for Rectification

If not agreeing with the admission decision and wishing to lodge an official appeal, you need to give it in writing - the DL for the Request for Rectification to reach LUT Records Services is April 1, 2020 at 12:00 (UTC+3). The official appeal must prove strong and concrete evidence on the error allegedly made during the admissions process. 

Before starting to write an official appeal, you are first advised to contact LUt Admissions Services at admission@lut.fi by March 24, 2020 at 24:00 (UTC+2) for further information about your points scored in the selection process.
Kindly note that only inquiries regarding to your points received by the given DL will be replied to.

Please note that there will be a re-evaluation and a possible rectification made only, if there had been a proven mistake made in the admission process - there will however, be no re-evaluation made regarding to points given for example, for the interview or motivation etc.

There is no justification for requesting a rectification if your application had been an incomplete one due to for example, not meeting with the minimum requirement for the language test score or not having your educational documents officially certified as requested or, the documents being late.
