Biography

D. Sc. (Tech.) Ekaterina Albats is a postdoctoral researcher at LUT University, School of Business and Management, Finland. Ekaterina works in the fields of innovation and technology management, open innovation, and university-industry collaboration. Ekaterina has been running multiple research and consulting projects on open innovation and business model development, knowledge transfer, published her research results in multiple academic journals and books. Among the past projects most relevant to this piece, Ekaterina has been managing The Open Innovation Academic Network (www.oi-net.eu), led the working group in the INSPIRE project on open innovation in SMEs (www.inspire-smes.com), managed the work on Business Model Development in the platform development project C3PO (www.itea4.org/project/c3po.html) on smart city co-design. Of the latest projects, during a two-year postdoctoral appointment at Stanford University, The Scandinavian Consortium for Organizational Research, Ekaterina has been researching knowledge and technology transfer at Stanford and Silicon Valley, as well as explored the role of digital platforms in facilitating academia-business collaboration. Ekaterina has published her work in such highly ranked academic journals as Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Journal of Business Research, and Journal of Technology Transfer. Ekaterina has also been serving as a guest Editor at the Triple Helix Journal.
