Applying with Finnish Matriculation Examination or related results

Eligibility

Applicants with a relevant degree on the upper secondary level of education may apply to the LUT Bachelor's Programme without a SAT Test.

Requirements for the Completed Degree

You are eligible to apply with one of the following degrees:

  •     Finnish Matriculation Examination
  •     International Baccalaureate
  •     European Baccalaureate
  •     Reifeprüfung

NOTE: It is not possible to apply to the LUT Bachelor's Programme on the basis of a Bachelor's Degree.

Minimum Requirements for the Degree

To be considered in the selection process, you are required to meet with one of the following minimum requirements:

Grades in Matriculation Examination / Baccalaureate / Reifeprüfung

  •     C in Physics and a Pass in Advanced Mathematics OR
  •     C in Chemistry and a Pass in Advanced Mathematics OR
  •     M in Advanced Mathematics

Requirements for Proficiency in English

When applying without a SAT Test, you are required to prove your proficiency in English with one of the following methods.


1.    Language Test Result

One of the following language test results with at least the minimum required score is required:

TOEFL Academic
78 iBT with a minimum score of 20 in writing    - MyBest Scores* accepted as well

IELTS Academic
6.0 with a minimum score of 5.5 in writing

PTE Academic  54

C1 Advanced - C
Test previously known as CAE by Cambridge English Qualifications

C2 Proficiency – C
Test previously known as CPE by Cambridge English Qualifications

NOTE: A language certificate from your home university or any other institution or organisation is not accepted.

*MyBest Scores in TOEFL Academic iBT:
Overall score for the test taker's highest section of individual scores from all valid test dates in the last 2 years. Available for score reports from August 1, 2019 onwards. All the individual results must be valid ones.

2.  A degree completed in English at an institution of a higher level of education in an EU/EEA country, Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the U.S.A.

  • The fact that the language of education was English must be mentioned on the Degree Certificate, Appendix, Transcript of Records or, on a separate official document provided by the institution of upper secondary level of education awarding the degree.

3.  A degree completed in English on the upper secondary level of education in an EU/EEA country, Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the U.S.A.

  • The fact that the language of education was English must be mentioned on the Degree Certificate, Appendix, Transcript of Records or, on a separate official document provided by the institution of upper secondary level of education awarding the degree.

4.  One of the following grade cases in Finnish Matriculation Examination, European Baccalaureate, International Baccalaureate or Reifeprüfung:

  •    Finnish Matriculation Examination

English on Advanced Level with a minimum grade of M

  •    International Baccalaureate completed in English
  •    International Baccalaureate when the examination has not been completed in English

English as A1 language with an approved grade (minimum grade 2) OR
English as A2 language with a minimum grade 5 OR
English as A language (literature/language and literature/language and performance) with an accepted grade (minimum grade 2) OR
English as B language with a minimum grade 5

  •    European Baccalaureate:

English as L1 language with an accepted grade (minimum grade 4) OR

English as L2 or L3 language with a minimum grade of 7

  •   Reifeprüfung:

English as A language (written exam) with an accepted grade (minimum grade 4) OR
English as A language (oral exam) with a minimum grade of 8
