Lahti Laboratories is an international, state-of-the-art research institute, opened in 2022 on the Lahti campus of LUT University. The aim of the institute is to serve the needs of bio-based fiber products companies. Lahti Laboratories strengthens the regional bioeconomy cluster, while promoting the creation and growth of new business opportunities, and supporting companies' research and innovation activities.

The Laboratories' priorities are: technologies which leverage sustainable development; improved uses of side streams; and energy efficiency. The institute's core competences include, for example, the conversion of wood raw material into fibers and the separation and purification of fractions and various chemicals obtained from lignocellulosic biomass. Lahti laboratories is an expert in biorefining and the utilization of lignin and biopolymers.

The Lahti laboratories are a collaboration between LUT and Andritz Oy. In addition to Andritz, the Marjatta and Eino Kolli Foundation has supported the operation of laboratories and professorships at LUT. Four professors and their research groups currently work on the Lahti campus. The goal is to increase the number of researchers in the next few years.
