CBC OneDrop project – water is a great priority
The project is funded by The South-East Finland – Russia CBC 2014-2020 programme (European Union, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Finland).
Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology LUT, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, Saint Petersburg State University, NPK Omega and Port of Lappeenranta are the partners in OneDrop project.
Objectives of the project
OneDrop - is about to study, design and develop a mobile water purification plant based on a novel methodology. Using this new approach, the technology of water purification moves to the next level, which is easier to deliver for everyone, everywhere with much cheaper price. The main target is to revolutionize the current water purification approach everywhere in the world.
The OneDrop project showcases ecologically safe and economically effective innovative solutions to create a cleaner future and deliver sustainable development goals.
A new approach to water treatment is a creation of an ecologically safe and economically effective integrated electrolysis unit, electrochemically generating liquid sodium ferrate from the steel anode and sodium hydroxide solution. At this, the ferrate is used directly at the place of production for processing of industrial wastewaters.
All the partners are situated in the same region sharing a huge body of water via Lake Saimaa. The big population of the region are using the water of Lake Saimaa as their main drinking source of water and two of the main partners of this project are actively providing clean water for the region in both sides of the border. In addition, the policy and strategy of most of the partners are much related to the CBC call. Therefore, in every possible direction, this call is the most proper call for the partner's purpose.
The main target group of the OneDrop project are water and wastewater treatment organizations, individuals, laboratories, governmental and educational institutions that are concentrated, interested and concerned about the problem of clean water shortage, ecologically safe, economically effective and sustainable future.
